What is BRCA?

BRCA1 and BRCA2 are BReast CAncer gene 1 and BReast CAncer gene 2. These are tumor suppressor genes – meaning they prevent tumors from growing in the body. A mutation in these genes increases the risk of several cancers, most notably breast and ovarian cancer.

My Mission

My two sisters and I tested positive for the BRCA 1 mutation. Our goal is to help other women who also test positive and take you on our journey through detection, surgery, and everything in between. We hope you find comfort, acceptance, and community in these blog posts.
